Maggie Aderin-Pocock

Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin-Pocock (doğum 9 Mart 1968) İngiliz uzay bilimleri bilim insanı ve bilim öğretmeni. University College London Fizik ve Astronomi Bölümü fahri araştırma görevlisi. Aynı zamanda Şubat 2014'ten beri Chris Lintott'ın sunduğu uzun soluklu astronomi televizyon programı olan The Sky at Night yardımcı sunucusu. 2020 yılında Fizik Enstitüsü, William Thomson, Lord Kelvin Ödülü fizikle olan bağlantısı sebebiyle ödüllendirildi. Kendisi, Fizik Haberleri Ödülü alan ilk Afrikalı kadındır.
Yaşamı ve eğitimi
Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin 9 Mart 1968 yılında İngiltere'de Nijeryalı Caroline Philips ve Justus Adebayo Aderin'in çocuğu olarak doğdu ve Camden'da büyüdü. Göbek adı olan Ebunoluwa, Yorubaca "ebun" anlamı "hediye" ve Oluwa anlamı "Tanrı", diğer çeşitlemeleriyle "Oluwabunmi" veya "Olubunmi", "Tanrının hediyesi" anlamına gelmektedir. Kuzey Londra'da bulunan La Sainte Union Convent School'da eğitim gördü. Disleksik olan Margaret, öğretmenine astronot olacağını söylediğinde kendisinin hemşireliği denemesi önerildi "çünkü bu da bilimseldir". Matematik, fizik, kimya ve biyoloji olmak üzere dört bölümde A-seviyesine erişti.
Kişisel yaşamı
Aderin-Pocock, Mart 2010'da BBC Radio 4'teki Desert Island Discs programında hayatını anlattı ve bilim dünyasındaki kadınlar hakkında birçok konuda biyografik maddelere değindi. 2002 yılında Martin Pocock ile evlendi.Lauren adında 2010 doğumlu bir kızları var ve Guildford, Surrey'de yaşıyorlar.
